Position Overview
We are looking for an Assistant Director to oversee product and program development and ensure a high return on investment. You’ll translate ideas into strategy and features, and follow product and program development from start to finish. To succeed in this role, you should be a perceptive and creative leader and a reliable problem-solver. If you’re also confident and have a knack for knowing what ideas will and won’t work, we’d like to meet you.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement product strategies consistent with the company vision
- Collect and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders and other teams to shape requirements, features and end products
- Work with senior management to create product plans and roadmaps
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams
- Produce and review product requirements documents
- Ensure products and releases are launched correctly and on schedule
- Make creative recommendations to expand the product base and vision
- Suggest ways to track product use and impact on end users
- Communicate and maintain trust relationships with shareholders, business partners and authorities
- Oversee the company’s financial performance, investments and other business ventures
- Work with a small and dedicated staff
- Act as the public speaker and public relations representative of the company in ways that strengthen its profile
- Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth
- Contribution to the tidiness of office space (personal and shared)
- Other duties as assigned
What You Need To Succeed
- Proven experience in a similar role
- Experience in product lifecycle management
- Background in software development and program management is preferred
- Organizational and leadership abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Problem-solving aptitude
- Creative thinking skills
- 3-5 years experience working with digital marketers, web developers and client services
- Must have a degree or diploma from a recognized 3- to 4-year post-secondary program at a Canadian college or university
- Hands-on project management and client management experience, equivalent to 2-3 years, specifically with the following:
- Understanding client/stakeholder objectives
- Problem-solving and developing business cases
- Coordinating with external clients/stakeholders and internal project teams
- Developing project plans and managing them through to execution
- Meeting and exceeding project goals * Some knowledge, comfort and experience in the following is required:
- Digital marketing campaigns, including email, social media and web
- Presentation skills for small groups
- Solutions sales in the education sector
- Scholarships, bursaries, grants and awards
- Post-secondary school admissions and administration * An ability to predict conflicts (task, relationship and process) before they happen and prepare solutions to prevent, mitigate or resolve them
- An ability to uncover business opportunities from disparate information and turn them into program elements
- Comfortable managing up, down and across a small organization of cross-functional experts to achieve project KPIs
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or equivalent (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
